In our files, for older Iraqi marks registered under the old sub-classification system, an assignment application cannot be filed until the owner supplies the list of goods covered by the mark. That list is needed to convert the old sub-classes into the corresponding individual goods items.
In one 2026 file, the Power of Attorney and the Deed of Assignment had both been locally legalised by June, and at that point filing was waiting for the goods list. The assignment application was then filed electronically on 21 September, with official receipts for the filing and for the publication fees for the assignment in the Official Gazette.
In another 2026 assignment, filing waited for the owner's written approval of two things: the total cost, and the lists of goods into which the existing sub-classes would be converted under the current Nice Classification.
Planning an assignment of an older Iraqi mark?
- Send the goods list together with the instruction
- Expect to approve the converted goods list in writing
- Approve the cost at the same time, so filing is not held up
- Budget for the Official Gazette publication fee
