In October 2026 an agent acting for a drinks brand owner sent us four separate filing instructions on the same day, all for the same two classes. Each one began with the same line: instructions for the filing of one application to register that mark in Iraq.
The four versions differed in only two ways: whether the brand name was written in Latin or in stylised Arabic characters, and which of two leaf designs it sat with. The Arabic-script version was not folded into the Latin one; each went in as its own application.
The class lists were the same across the family: Nice lists with the items to claim highlighted, 10 items in one class and 31 in the other.
Each instruction also listed the same filing requirements, including an Arabic translation of the mark details and a copy of the legalised power of attorney.
For budgeting: costs, official fees and follow-up multiply by the number of versions. The documents do not have to.
Filing a logo family in Iraq:
- Count one application per version, including the Arabic-script version
- Reuse the same class lists across the family
- Reuse the same legalised POA across the batch
- Send all versions together so the filing dates stay close
Planning a rebrand in Iraq? Send us the versions and we will map out the filings.
