In recent files, foreign agents did not draft the POA themselves. They sent the applicant's details and asked us to prepare it. In one of them, a check of the draft caught a missing digit in the year before anyone signed.
That check matters. A typo in the date or details of a POA can make it unusable once it is legalised and force the whole legalisation chain to be repeated.
Two practical points. The POA must be notarised and legalised up to the Iraqi Embassy or Consulate. And in those files we prepared the POA, and answered the inquiry, without charge.
What to send for an Iraqi POA:
- The applicant's exact name and address.
- The signatory's name and title.
- The date and place of signing.
- The list of goods, if you want us to confirm they are acceptable.
- Then read the prepared POA back, including the year and the Arabic text, before signing and legalising.
