In a Kurdistan Region file, the renewal and a change of the owner's address were filed together. Once the renewal was published in the Official Gazette, our publication notice said it plainly: the final registration fees may be settled by any third party. We used the same wording in a Baghdad publication notice later that year.
That can matter more than it sounds. Where the registered owner sits abroad, waiting for that owner to approve and transfer a payment can hold up the final step, and the notice indicates the payment does not have to come from the owner.
For brand owners renewing in Kurdistan:
- When the Gazette publication notice arrives, decide who will pay the final fees.
- According to the notice, a third party can pay, so it need not be the owner or appointed agent.
- Tell your agent exactly which file the payment belongs to.
- Confirm the position with your agent for your own file before relying on it.
