In one renewal file this October, the reason was that the mark had never been published, so there was no published print on our side to take the image from. We asked the instructing agent for an image so that we could proceed with the renewal.
In several renewal files in October 2026 we had to make that request. In one, the image came from the owner's global trademark database. In another, we asked for any document showing the mark, such as an earlier renewal certificate.
Each request adds an exchange of emails, while the renewal deadline keeps running.
When you instruct the renewal of an older Iraqi mark, send with the instruction:
- A clear image of the mark exactly as registered
- The form used (Latin, Arabic, or both)
- The latest registration or renewal certificate, if you have it
- Any earlier filing documents from your own records
